Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen says knee surgery was a success on Thursday.
The operation will keep him out for the remainder of the 2020/21 season and the European Championship.
Barcelona have been aware of Ter Stegen's problem with his patellar tendon for a while.
But with the chance to win LaLiga Santander now gone, it seemed the most appropriate time for him to get the issue corrected, for his long-term benefit.
"Everything went well today, now the concentration is on my recovery, thank you for all your messages of support in the last days," Ter Stegen posted on social media.
