The father of Reece James admits rival clubs were upset when he signed for Chelsea.

Nigel James is a youth coach and was working for Reading and Fulham when James signed for Chelsea at eight years of age.

James Snr told the Daily Mail: "I was working for Fulham and Reading and both clubs were disappointed in me because he didn't sign for them.

"But Reece's passion was Chelsea so it boils down to what he wanted to do. The clubs didn't see that…. that's one of those things that drove me from working in clubs."

Nigel added they became "nasty' at the time.
