Manchester City are unlikely to pursue a buy-back of midfielder Douglas Luiz.
The Aston Villa star has a clause in his contract that would allow City to facilitate his return to the club for a modest fee.
According to The Telegraph, City are set to offer veteran Fernandinho a new deal, ending their interest in Luiz for the moment.
Villa will be relieved to learn they can hold onto the Brazilian, who has been with the club since 2019.
Fernandinho, who is now 36, believes he can hold his own in the Premier League for another season.
