Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old, who was charged with trafficking 1,746.8gm of syabu, will go on trial on Oct 25–28 this year.
High Court Judicial Commissioner Amelati Parnell fixed the date for Ang Eng Khong during case management of his case on Thursday.
Ang was accused of committing the offence at 4.30pm on Oct 31, 2018, at Taman Awam Teluk Likas, here.
He was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the death sentence or imprisonment for life and whipping not less than 15 strokes if not sentenced to death, on conviction.
The court also set Aug 18 for final management of the case.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Syarifuddin Abd Rasa prosecuted.
Ang was represented by counsel Luke Ressa Balang.
Meanwhile, in the Magistrate’s Court two people were penalised for taking syabu.
Fahmie Yuzy was fined RM2,400 or six months jail after he pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing the offence here in March this year.
Noor Rabbiatul Baharom was sentenced to six months jail by Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun after she admitted to committing the offence on March 16 in Penampang.
They were each charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years jail on conviction.
Inspectors Kelvan Elson Maik and Suzie @ Stephanie Kupit prosecuted.
