Manchester United fullback Diogo Dalot is proud of his role in AC Milan qualifying for the Champions League.

Milan, with victory over Atalanta, finished the Serie A season in second place.

Dalot, with his Milan loan now to expire, posted to social media: "Milan returns to the Champions League with all the merit. We are very happy to give the club a place that it belongs to, which is to be on the biggest European stages.

"It was a difficult journey, but the group was always united and determined in the most difficult moments. I am happy for my season and for helping Milan to finish Serie A in second place and return to the Champions 7 years later."

Milan coach Stefano Pioli also stated: "More than ever, I think it is right to praise the strength of the team. When you reach this level of satisfaction in a season, it is also because of the players who have not had so many opportunities, like Gabbia, Krunic, Dalot and Kalulu."
