Danny Welbeck says Brighton defeated Leeds United playing the right way on Saturday.
Welbeck scored his fifth goal of the season to seal a 2-0 win at the Amex after Pascal Gross had scored a first-half penalty to put Albion in front.
“I am happy to get a goal in what was such an important game for us. As a team we're really happy and I am proud of the performance we put in against a tough opponent.
“It was a really intense game, but we had a plan that we stuck to and in the end executed it perfectly.
“We could have had another goal before I scored because we created some good chances but once we got the second that put us in a good position."
Welbeck's brilliant turn and finish was a goal of the season contender.
“It's one of those situations where you're looking around to see what solutions you've got to the situation.
“Once the ball is in there and I have seen where the defenders are, I was confident it would come off. You do it in training, so it's nice to pull it off in a game. I am really pleased with the goal I enjoyed it."
