Spain coach Luis Enrique says Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte deserved his Euros call.
Enrique went with Laporte over Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
He said this morning of Laporte: "He is a top level player, he is a great reinforcement for the team. I would like you not to link Ramos's loss with the incorporation of other players. There is a possibility that Ramos could recover before the competition starts, but I see it difficult.
"It has been a decision that we have thought about a lot. I spoke with him at the Madrid-Sevilla half-time, but we only talked about the physical. I keep yesterday's conversation private. It is not easy to convey something that is not positive for him. I have to stick to what is best for the team.
"Any thing related to Sergio Ramos generates controversy. I know what it means to train at the highest level. I hope that does not affect the team, which is ready to compete."
