Ajax chief Edwin van der Sar has confirmed contact with former club Manchester United.
Van der Sar was linked with the football director's job at United before John Murtough's appointment.
He recalled on Goedemorgen Eredivisie: "That is always an honour, if it is positive.
"It's not new either. My name has been around for a while, there are more and more former players in certain positions there. And everyone has ambitions.
"Have I ever been approached? Yes, a few years ago.
"Maybe I am not on their list, am I? I am not a typical CEO, I am also more of the football side. Manchester United is also a different story than Ajax. You work there with an owner who likes you, or do you like your life in Noordwijk and Amsterdam enough? That is the question."
