Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says securing Edinson Cavani to a new contract won't stop their pursuit of a new striker.

Solskjaer stressed that wasn't necessarily a barrier to trying to sign another striker this summer, however, which could leave the door ajar to a bid to sign Kane.

"Of course we're still looking at players in every position. Just because Edinson stays doesn't mean we are not looking for a forward," said Solskjaer.

"Having Bruno as a ten doesn't mean we're not looking for an attacking midfield, or having Marcus doesn't mean we're not looking in their positions. It's the nature of the beast that you're always trying to improve.

"But of course Edinson staying is great for us and whoever comes in will learn from him definitely – whoever you are. So the short answer is no we've not stopped looking for a centre forward but the longer one is more complicated than just that."
