West Ham made a big money attempt for Schalke midfielder Suat Serdar last year, it has been revealed.
With Schalke relegated, Serdar is on the brink of joining Hertha Berlin for a fee of €8m.
However, Serdar could easily have been playing in England with it emerging West Ham failed with an offer in January 2020.
Kicker says the Irons offered a massive €45m for the midfielder, but S04 chose to turn it down.
Germany international Serdar, 24, is now set to join Hertha for a fraction of that fee.
