AS Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas is baffled by the criticism of Wales captain Gareth Bale.
Bale spent last season on-loan at Tottenham from Real Madrid, where he played his best football for the past three seasons.
Cesc stated, "It is a strange case with Gareth. You never know why, but for me he has been so successful: he scored in two Champions League finals, he scored against us (Barcelona) in a Copa final, he scored more than 100 goals for the club and people were still criticising him.
"I'm looking at these images right now and I never realised it, but he seemed so happy..."
Cesc continued: “Everyone accused him that he loves to play golf, that he does not learn Spanish, that we all agree every time you go to a country, people like to see this effort to accommodate. But he is a fantastic player."
