BELIEF - An acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.
Faith - Complete trust in someone or something.
Over the weekend, I heard a story about belief that hit me so hard and I just thought of sharing it. (But with some added twists)
Once upon a time, there was a man who vowed that he would serve God and do God's work. One day, God came down to him and said that he had a task for him to complete. Without thinking twice, he immediately accepted the challenge.
So God placed a HUGE boulder in front of his house and told him, "Your job is to work everyday to push this boulder away, and you will not stop until this boulder is removed." It seemed almost impossible, but he has vowed to serve God, and he promised that he will do his best. With that, God disappeared with a poof and left him feeling motivated and excited to start.
He immediately changed into his workout clothes, brand new Nike with the swoosh still shimmering, warmed up and started working. He pushed and pushed with all his might, but the boulder just didn't seem to budge. After trying and trying the whole day, the man was exhausted. But it was only the first day, he thought to himself. If I persist, I will surely be able to push this boulder away!
So he worked day in day out, no matter if it was raining, snowing, wind howling or the sun burning him to death. He kept his vow and he was determined to complete the task that God had delegated to him.
Just like that, a year had passed, and the boulder still hadn't moved an inch.
At this point, the man was devastated. When it was time to work, he lay in bed thinking, what's the point of continuing? I have been working so hard for a year and the boulder has still not budged! God must be lying to me.
Right at that exact moment, a little devil appeared by his shoulder and with a raspy, eerie, devilish voice, whispered in his ear "God has been tricking you! He gave you this impossible task, just to show you that you are only human, and you can never ever achieve anything that you want because you don't have the ability nor power.
Stop working so hard! Rest, lay in bed, wake up as you please, go and wander among the fields, take long leisurely walks across the beach." The man interrupted, "Um, technically I'm in a lockdown now because of this whole boulder thingy, but yeah I get your point, thanks." Upon hearing that, the devil flashed his million-dollar smile (with sharp and crooked teeth, and some blood dripping) "Yes my lad, you know what I mean, now be lazy! And never work again, because there is just no point." And poof, he was gone.
The man looked at his shirt and saw the blood on his shirt and thought to himself "Thank god I didn't change into my new Nike shirt," he looked up to the sky and shouted," THAT'S IT! I'M DONE! NO MORE PUSHING YOUR STUPID BOULDER. IMMA REST AND DO MA THING, FOREVER!" - The Vibes. June 29, 2021
