Laporte is considering his future at City after dropping down the defensive pecking order in manager Pep Guardiola's plans.
Sport says Barca are interested in bringing the former Athletic Bilbao defender back to LaLiga this summer.
And a swap deal could be on, with City interested in Barca utility Sergi Roberto.
Roberto has a year to run on his contract and is being encouraged to leave by Barca management. A swap involving Laporte would be an ideal scenario for the cash-strapped Spanish giants.
