Tottenham striker Troy Parrott was delighted with his two goals for the Republic of Ireland in their win against Andorra.
It was Parrott's fifth appearance for the senior team, the same stage at which record goalscorer Robbie Keane claimed the first of his 68 for his country, although Parrott was not allowing himself to be carried away by the comparison.
He said: “He was an unbelievable striker and to reach the level of goals he had would be a dream come true. It's good to get off the mark, though.
“It feels amazing, to be fair, the stuff you dream of when you're growing up. The most important thing is the win, though, it's good to get that."
Parrott was overjoyed to score his first senior Ireland goals, as he told RTE Sport: “I'm over the moon, to be fair. When the second one went in, I was so relieved. Even the first one…
“It's our first win in a couple of games, so I couldn't be happier, really.
“It's a really young squad mixed with experience. The older lads are helping us out a lot. This should give us massive confidence going into the next game and the qualifiers.
“Hopefully we can take it in our stride and keep going and get the wins."
