Fabio Liverani is firming as favourite to land the Lazio job.
Lazio are turning to Liverani after Simone Inzaghi left last week and has since been confirmed Inter Milan coach, reports Sky Italia.
Lazio's primary target is former Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri who has been without a job since leaving Turin in August of last year.
Sarri has reportedly met with the club's director of sport Igli Tare several times and a meeting was expected to take place with president Claudio Lotito on Thursday.
However, it's believed that should they fail to get the former Chelsea boss to put pen to paper they will consider a move for Liverani, who left Parma in January.
