Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot is delighted to be part of Portugal's Euros squad.
Dalot has joined up with the squad in Budapest, after replacing Manchester City defender João Cancelo.
Dalot, who spent last season on-loan with AC Milan, said: "It was without a doubt a crazy episode, I was on vacation and was getting ready to go into a restaurant when I received a call from Portugal.
"It was a special moment, I had longed to be in the A team for a long time and it was a huge source of pride, I'm very happy. The circumstances are not the best for João Cancelo. I had the opportunity to talk to him, having his support at a time like this is fantastic, he is a great example for me, also for everything he has done in the national team and I wish him the best improvement.
"We'll all be playing for him too. As far as I know and I've heard, this is a very united group and I hope to integrate very quickly and to be able to help in the best possible way. I've had a little less than a week to rest from a season that's already gone by. And it's not over yet. I'm here body and soul and physically ready to help the national team."
