Barcelona announced on Tuesday confirming that Ousmane Dembele has a ruptured hamstring tendon in his right leg and will require surgery.
Dembele came off the bench for France against Hungary in the 58th minute, only to be subbed off half an hour later after feeling pain in his knee.
Barcelona didn't state for how long he would be out for but surgeries for such injuries tend to require between three and four months of recovery.
It will be the winger's third operation since he arrived at the Camp Nou in the summer of 2017.
Dembele featured in 44 games across all competitions last campaign, in which he scored 11 goals.
