Former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho admits he was aware of Super League breakaway plans.
Mourinho was sacked by Tottenham around the same time as the Super League fiasco - though the two matters were unrelated - after a difficult season in north London and he has now taken charge of Italian club Roma.
Asked by The Sun if he knew about the Super League before it became public knowledge, Mourinho said: “I knew the project was in the kitchen and it would come out."
Pressed if he was surprised by how quickly it fell apart, the Portuguese replied: “The way people reacted was incredible. I am a football lover.
"I got emotional about that reaction."
