Ten-man Wales were put to the sword by France on Wednesday, with the world champions sealing a 3-0 win in Nice.
The visitors already faced a daunting task against Didier Deschamps' star studded Les Bleus.
And the challenge was intensified after 25 minutes when Liverpool fullback Neco Williams was sent off after a VAR check deemed his handball had illegally impeded a goal-bound effort from Karim Benzema.
Danny Ward then denied Benzema, making his first appearance for France in six years, from the penalty spot.
But the Wales keeper was unable to stop Kylian Mbappe turning in his deflection from Adrien Rabiot's shot which broke the deadlock for France.
Antoine Griezmann then made it 2-0 with a beautiful curled strike early in the second-half.
Griezmann's Barcelona teammate Ousmane Dembele rounded off the victory with 11 minutes remaining, converting after a strike from Benzema hit the post.
