Wolves defender Toti Gomes will return to Swiss Super League side Grasshoppers on loan for the 2021/22 season.

The 22-year-old joined Wolves last summer and spent his debut season with Grasshoppers, helping the Swiss side to the Swiss Challenge League title and promotion to the top tier.

Wolves technical director Scott Sellars told the club's website: “Toti had a really good year at Grasshoppers last season in the Challenge League and the team won promotion, so it's a really good opportunity for him to be challenged again and play a good level, which will develop him as a young central defender.

“You assess every player individually. I've watched a lot of his games and he's excelled, and when people are in a really good place as a footballer, with a new challenge and league, it's good for them to stay.

“He showed his quality and potential, and we're really pleased with his attitude – everything he did for Grasshoppers was really positive. It's a new league, so for him there's going to be an adaption, but we want him to compete, keep the same attitude and keep developing.

“There's a real need to play as a youngster, to get that experience, and you really find out about them when you expose them to first-team football, playing for points. It's a great place for him to develop."
