Manchester United had a chance to sign Lyon defender Joachim Andersen four years ago, it has been revealed.
United were tipped off Joachim Andersen in 2017 by fitness coach at the time Stefano Rapetti. The Dane has just completed a superb season on-loan at Fulham from Lyon.
The Manchester Evening News says back in 2017, United received a tip-off about the player.
Jose Mourinho was manager at the time and fitness coach Rapetti, who has since left Old Trafford, gave the Portuguese a glowing endorsement of the player.
In the end, however, United decided against signing Andersen.
Mourinho also raved about Napoli powerhouse Kalidou Koulibaly but never came close to landing the Senegal international.
