KUALA LUMPUR – PAS will continue to stand behind the decisions made by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his cabinet despite the king’s rebuke of the party’s secretary-general and Law Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan today.
In a brief statement, deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party firmly supports the country’s constitutional monarchy system under the federal constitution and rule of law.
“PAS calls on all parties to remain united and set aside politicking in managing the country during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The country’s political stability and the people’s unity are desperately required in facing the pandemic.”
The statement comes after today’s Dewan Rakyat session was interrupted following opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s reading of the Istana Negara statement in the House.
Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon later said he received a letter from Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reporting two fresh Covid-19 cases on Parliament premises.
Another two were detected following screenings today.
Despite shouts from the opposition, Rashid adjourned the sitting to 10am next Monday.
This morning, Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin released a statement saying the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has asserted that the application to revoke emergency ordinances, backdated to July 21, was “hastily made without presenting it in Parliament”.
It said “the contradictory and misleading statement in Parliament failed to respect the principle of the rule of law in the Rukun Negara”. – The Vibes, July 29, 2021
