The agent of Lazio striker Ciro Immobile has hit out at criticism of his Italy form.
Immobile hasn't scored for Italy going into the Euro 2020 final against England on Sunday.
“I hear people talk about strikers of the past who in their entire careers scored a fifth of the goals Ciro has, and I am starting to find it really irritating," Alessandro Moggi told Radio Radio.
“Ciro Immobile has nothing more to prove, he already showed so much throughout his career and objectively is the most prolific Italian forward of the last few years."
Moggi continued: “It makes me angry, because if Immobile scores two goals per game, it's treated as the norm and nobody makes a big deal of it, but if for any reason he doesn't get the ball in the net, he becomes the main problem of the Italy squad. We've been reading this for years now," continued the agent.
“Then I read journalists bring up the names of forwards who scored 30-40 goals in their whole careers and yet are treated as those who could improve Italy's performances, that suggests to me some people have an ulterior motive. It really irritates me."
