Tottenham have been told they must go higher for Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The Daily Mail says Spurs have had a £12.9m offer rejected by Bologna for Tomiyasu.

Spurs also offered a further £2.6m in add-ons but Bologna now want £17.2m. Negotiations are continuing and an agreement could still be reached with the Serie A club.

The Premier League side are looking to strengthen their defence this summer, with centre back and right back a priority.

Tomiyasu is capable of playing in both positions and would be a valuable addition for new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 22-year-old is under contract until 2024, meaning Bologna are not under pressure to sell him.
