KUANTAN – Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has decreed that events in conjunction with his 62nd birthday on July 30 be postponed in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pahang Secretary Datuk Seri Sallehuddin Ishak in a statement today said Sultan Abdullah, who is also state ruler, instructed that exemption be given only for thanksgiving ceremonies and prayers, and these, too, should be done virtually.

“His Majesty decreed that no congratulatory messages in conjunction with his birthday be published in the print media or on billboards.

“Instead, this can be done online on departments and companies’ websites, or any medium that does not involve any cost.”

He said the king also ordered that allocations for the publication of congratulatory messages be channelled to the Covid-19 fund set up by the government to help those impacted by the health crisis. – Bernama, July 19, 2021
