The Everton future of James Rodriguez remains in doubt.
The Colombia midfielder is due at Finch Farm today for preseason tests.
The Liverpool Echo says sources insisted that Carlo Ancelotti's exit would not automatically spell the end of James' time at Everton, after just one season, but the club's choice of new manager would have a bearing on what happened next.
And the appointment, this week, of Raga Benitez has plunged Rodriguez's future into fresh doubt.
The pair are reported to have experienced a difficult relationship when Benitez took charge at Real Madrid in 2015, with Rodriguez struggling to force his way into the manager's plans on a consistent basis, amid disagreements over this fitness.
Benitez was sacked by Real in January 2016.
