UEFA football chief Zvonimir Boban has slammed former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger over his FIFA recommendations.

Earlier this week, Wenger drew criticism when he backed a FIFA proposed revamp of the World Cup, claiming it was what the fans wanted.

AC Milan great Boban clearly thinks very little of the idea – and Wenger's opinion on the Euros.

"We can only admire Wenger for what he has given to football," AC Milan legend Boban told Italian media.

"(But) I find it absurd that he cannot understand that it simply cannot be done. The World Cup cannot be biennial for a thousand of reasons, from international calendars to the waiting for a 'sacred' event.

"Beside this, as a FIFA manager, he commented on a penalty in the UEFA European Championship: it was inelegant and inconceivable."
