Getafe president Angel Torres says the LaLiga must keep hold of Lionel Messi.
Messi is off contract from Barcelona and remains a free agent as his club battles to make room in their salary cap for the Argentine.
Torres says it is vital Barca and the LaLiga do not allow Messi to slip away.
"I've discussed it with (Barca president Joan) Laporta and (LaLiga president Javier) Tebas. LaLiga cannot allow Messi to slip away this year," Torres told Mundo Deportivo.
"They will make a big mistake and we will all regret it. The best footballer in the world must stop his career in Spain while respecting the rules of financial control."
