KUALA LUMPUR – Highway operator PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) is extending its three-month assistance, including a reduction in monthly rental fees, to all its stall and temporary business operators at its rest and service areas (R&Rs) from this August to October.

“All traders in the north- and south-bound Gelang Patah R&Rs will receive full monthly rental waivers, considering the impact of the temporary closure of the Malaysia-Singapore border,” it said in a statement today.

On top of that, PLUS is also providing a two-week monthly rental fees waiver for R&R business operators affected by the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in Selangor.

In an effort to provide business continuity to help its R&R business operators, the company is also looking into alternative payment plans, including a waiver of late payment charges.

The same assistance has also been extended to R&R business operators at Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2) in Terengganu.

Since last year, the highway concession has granted business operations rental relief due to the impact of the government’s interstate travel restrictions.

PLUS’ head of strategic stakeholder engagement, Syed Mohammed Idid, said the company is constantly seeking ways to assist its business operators during these challenging times.

“To help our business operators adapt to disruption brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have provided online training, as well equipping them in using technology for their business in the new norm.

“To encourage contactless transactions for the safety of our customers and our business operators, the ‘Order Disini’ or pre-order function in the PLUS app was designed as an enabler for food-to-go orders and as a means to mitigate reduction of dine-in customers at R&Rs,” he added. – The Vibes, July 8, 2021
