Patrick Vieira enjoyed some banter with Fabrizio Romano ahead of being named new Crystal Palace manager today.
The Arsenal legend has been confirmed as the new Eagles boss, replacing Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park.
But he appeared to announce the news too soon, sharing a post with an eagle emoji as well as the club's red and blue colours in heart emojis.
It was soon deleted - but he could not avoid some 'eagle-eyed' fans getting a screen-grab, reports the Daily Star.
Vieira saw the funny side, though, as he shared a cheeky message with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has already tweeted about the deal.
The Frenchman wrote "no 'here we go', I don't trust you Fabrizio" before adding a laughing emoji.
Romano had written that Vieira had 'signed the contract' for a three-year deal, confirming it from the Premier League side's 'media team'.
