Former Everton captain Leon Osman is happy seeing David Unsworth take charge of academy.
Unsworth took up the position in September 2020, which allows the Everton Under-23s boss to bring all of the teams below the senior men's squad into one management structure, providing a smoother pathway through the Academy and into the First Team.
"It's huge to have that Everton DNA," Osman told evertonfc.com, who like Unsworth came through the Everton youth system.
“I think it's one of the most important things to have at a club.
“To have someone who has that knowledge of what makes an Everton player successful, of what Everton fans want to see out there on the field…that is key.
“I don't think it is the same type of player and character for every single club.
“Everton is unique in my eyes and you need to have the right character to represent our club.
“David Unsworth knows exactly what the Club is about. He is very experienced throughout football, both as a player and a manager of the Everton Under-23s. He's also managed the First Team on an interim basis.
“He knows the quality of players needed. He knows what it takes to represent Everton Football Club."
