Jaume Costa has said farewell to Villarreal as he comes off contract.

The left-back is a free agent after spending ten years with the club.

He said, “I would like to thank everyone that has experienced this with me. In the good and the bad times they have been there. I also want to thank the club and all the employees that make our day to day life easier. Wherever I am, I will always be a Villarreal fan. I'll always be a 'groguet'. This is not a goodbye, it's a see you later. I hope that our paths cross again in the future."

The defender from Valencia recognised that the years he has spent at the club have been very special: "If I had to sum up my time at Villarreal in one word it would be spectacular. Since I arrived, I could never have dreamed of spending my entire career at a club like this. I have had many special times at Villarreal. I'm really happy that we won the Europa League title, above all for the fans and people at the club."

He also stated: “This past season I have played 25 games and in different positions, from left-back to centre midfield. I have also tried to help the young players. On a collective level, we were a great group, a great family. It's true that we didn't achieve our objectives in LaLiga, but we achieved even greater goals of making it to next season's Champions League and winning a trophy."
