Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is weighing up whether to elevate Romeo Lavia to his first-team squad.
The Sky Blues beat several teams to sign Lavia from Anderlecht in the summer of 2020.
Their persistence has been justified as Lavia played an instrumental role in City U23s winning the Premier League 2 title last season.
The Telegraph says Guardiola has been impressed with the 17-year-old and could bring him into the first-team fold next season.
Guardiola believes the move will help Lavia's development as he learns from seasoned veterans such as Fernandinho, who recently signed one-year extension with the club.
Lavia will also get an opportunity for playing time when Guardiola's first-choice midfielders are unavailable or need a rest.
