Thierry Small has failed to report to preseason training at Everton.
The teen was handed his senior bow in the closing stages of an FA Cup win against Sheffield Wednesday at Goodison Park.
The Athletic reports the defender has not returned to Finch Farm having been expected at the complex on Monday, amid potential interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal.
At the heart of it all is reportedly concerns from the player over the lack of a clear pathway to the first team, with both Lucas Digne and Niels Nkounkou thought to be ahead of the 16-year-old in the pecking order.
Everton do have an offer on the table of a professional contract for Small, which they still hope he signs after his 17th birthday at the beginning of August, reports the Liverpool Echo.
