The winger has left Aberdeen after failing to agree on a contract extension.
Per the Daily Record, the 19-year-old has been training with Southampton over the past two weeks.
The Saints will run the rule over Ross with a view to offering him a contract if he impresses.
If he does sign for Southampton, his old club Aberdeen would receive a roughly six-figure compensation.
