ALOR STAR – A man died after he lost control of his motorcycle, which smashed into the side of a road, in his attempt to escape from police in Bedong, near Sg Petani, yesterday.
Kedah police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the suspect, in his 30s, was wanted by police in connection with graffiti on the wall of Istana Anak Bukit here.
“At 3pm, the suspect, who was riding a black motorcycle, had painted the word ‘SAMR’ on the palace wall.
“At about 5pm, he was believed to have gone to the Kota Setar police station and punched a female officer on duty, causing the victim to suffer injuries to the face, before fleeing.”
He said police found the suspect in Gurun, near Sg Petani, but he attempted to escape.
“It was in his attempt to escape police that the machine he was riding skidded. The suspect was injured and pronounced dead at the scene.”
The body has been sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here for post-mortem. – Bernama, July 16, 2021
