England and Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw was chuffed to hear praise from Roberto Carlos.
The Brazilian was effusive in his praise for Shaw after his excellent performance in the 4-0 win over Ukraine at Euro 2020.
Carlos, one of the finest left-backs of all time, said: "You can see he's very motivated, his performance against Ukraine was very good. He's been improving each game. I think he's got everything to get to the top. He's the left-back for England — that in itself says a lot."
And responding to the praise, Shaw told the Lion's Den: "To be fair, I didn't even see any of that [Carlos' praise], it's the first time I've heard of it.
"Obviously, it's so nice to hear that from one of the best left-backs ever and after the game when I had seen he had followed me and commented on my photo, I couldn't believe it to be honest.
"It was a weird feeling, but one that I take massive respect from it and it's really nice to hear words from someone like that."
