David de Gea has cut short his summer break to return to Manchester United for preseason training.
The Daily Star says having been a part of Spain's European Championship squad, the United keeper was not due to report for club duty for another two weeks.
But de Gea, 30, who did not feature in his country's run into the last four at the finals, has already arrived back as he steps up his bid to challenge Dean Henderson between the posts next term.
Many assumed the ex-Atletico Madrid ace would be on his way this summer - after falling behind England stopper Henderson in the Old Trafford pecking order.
However, with a £375,000-a-week salary and £50million price-tag on his head, de Gea is not a viable option for any of the elite in Spain - or across Europe.
