Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Covid-19 caseloads continue to be high with 720 cases recorded on Monday, according to Sabah’s official Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic).
Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 151 cases, followed by Kalabakan’s 116 cases, out of which 112 were from the Agathis cluster.
Tawau recorded 72 cases, out of which 22 were from the prison. Although no new clusters were recorded on Monday, Sabah saw six Covid-19 fatalities, namely four in Kota Kinabalu and one each in Kota Marudu and Sandakan.
A huge number of positive cases came from close contact screening with a total of 331 cases, followed by cluster screening (226) and symptomatic screening (103 cases).
As of July 26, a total of 87 localities in 15 districts are placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), with Kota Kinabalu topping the list with 25 localities, followed by Sipitang (12) and Sandakan as well as Keningau with seven localities, respectively.
Eight new localities in six districts are placed under EMCO starting from July 28.
They are Keningau (Kg Kauran), Sipitang (Kg Menengah, Kg Buang Sayang, Kg Pasir Putih), Kunak (Kg Mostyn Lama), Kinabatangan (Ladang Pontian Kuril), Papar (Taman Kinarut Ria), Kota Belud (Kg Tawadakan).
The EMCO in six localities in Keningau have been extended until August 10, namely Kg Patikang Ulu, Focus Lumber quarters/factory, Veracity quarters/factory, Hasil Jadi quarters/factory, Ida Driving Centre and an Indonesian settlement.
The EMCO in Kg Madsiang, Penampang has also been extended until Aug 10, while the EMCO in Taman Muhibbah Phase 1, 2 and 3 in Beaufort will end as scheduled on July 27.
Similarly the EMCO in Beverly Hills Phase 2 and Kg Kobusak in Penampang will also end as scheduled on July 27.
As for vaccination, Phase Two dose one saw 28,454 getting vaccinated on Monday, bringing its cumulative to 599,287 people, while Phase Two dose two saw 801 nepeople vaccinated, bringing its cumulative to 321,683 people.
A total of 20,170 people registered for the vaccine on Monday, bringing the cumulative to 1,079,973 or 39.2 per cent.
Forty-eight compounds were issued for breaching SOPs, with failure to comply with the physical distancing requirement leading the list with 17 compounds, followed by failure to wear face masks (13 compounds).
A total of 126 cars were ordered to turn back at 139 roadblocks across the State over the last 24 hours.
The State also saw 488 Covid-19 patients discharged, while 673 remained hospitalised, 2,563 are in low-risk quarantine centres and 271 quarantined in temporary detention centres/prisons.
Seventy-seven patients are under Intensive Care Unit, with 17 requiring ventilator assistance.
Sabah’s overall SOP compliance rate is 95.1 per cent.
