Watford and West Ham are targeting Sampdoria midfielder Morten Thorsby.
Samp are prepared to sell, but want at least €6m to do business for the Dane.
TMW says West Ham had considered themselves the favourites for his signature.
However, Watford then stepped in with an improved bid, so Samp hope the Premier League sides can push the price up.
Thorsby joined Samp two years ago from Heerenveen as a free agent.
