KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor Health Director Datuk Sha’ari Ngadiman has made light of the slew of doctor resignations, saying that they might prefer to work in vaccination centres for more pay, or opt for a career change and become photographers or computer shop assistants.
He added that some even inherited family clinics to run and that computer shops can rake in three times a doctor’s pay.
Sha’ari said this in a Health Ministry press conference this evening.
Meanwhile, the Hartal Doktor Kontrak group, a group lobbying for the welfare of contract doctors, has posted on social media several resignation letters allegedly by doctors across the country.
Many letters cited immense work pressure and marathon-like work hours.
Malaysiakini reported that at least 15 doctors at a public hospital in the Klang Valley have resigned in the last two weeks, according to a doctor who has also tendered his resignation. – The Vibes, July 23, 2021
