AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali admits he could've played better last season.

The 21-year-old started in Milan's Serie A opening night win against Sampdoria.

We had a solid start and it was helpful to score a goal at the very beginning," Tonali told DAZN after the match.

“It was positive to start the game.

“These things can have an impact, mentally and physically. This year we got off on the right foot and we hope to continue on this path.

“I feel freer and more light-hearted. It's not easy to swap Brescia with Milan, especially on loan and the problems I experienced.

“Now, I expect a positive season under every point of view.

“The new signings have proved to be able to make their contribution. Florenzi brought a dose of experience together with Giroud. We welcomed them with open arms."
