Seven easy steps to use Covid-19 self test kit at home

GOOD news for Malaysians in these pandemic times as the government and the Ministry of Health (MOH) have approved five types of Covid-19 self-test kits that can be used for personal use at home. 

Certainly many of us are cautious of being labeled a close contact, either by going to a risky location or meeting a Covid-19 positive person by accident, because the virus is already contagious within the community.

Fortunately, Covid-19 self-test kits can now be purchased at any nearby pharmacy. At the very least, they can help reduce our frustrations and worries.

Step 1: 

• Brush your teeth or gargle 30 minutes before trying the test.
• Make sure the kit is complete with five items including handouts.
• The items include a funnel, reagent container, the container cap and a test kit test kit.

Step 2:

• Open the container. 
• Be careful not to spill the existing solution in the container.
• Then connect the funnel. 

Step 3:

• Carefully, fill the container with saliva.
• Then open the funnel and connect the lid of the container.

Step 4:

• Press the container 20 times.
• Shake the container 20 times.
• Use your finger to make a hole available in the box.
• Put the container in the hole.

Step 5:

• Carefully open the plastic self-test kit.
• Make sure there is no damage to the kit.
• Keep the kit clean without any blemishes.

Step 6:

• Drop three to five drops into the circle at the bottom of the kit.
• Wait 15 minutes for the results.

Step 7:

• Compare the test kit results to the guide paper.
• If two lines (C+T) mean positive, one line (C) alone means negative.
• If there is no direct line or there is a single line (T) it means invalid.
