SHAH ALAM – The Selangor government’s new initiative will speed up the funeral management process for Muslim Covid-19 victims at three hospitals in the state, and ensure the process will not take more than 24 hours, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the state government is also in discussion with funeral parlours handling non-Muslim Covid-19 dead to expedite the burial process, which takes up to four days.
After the Centralised Covid-19 Fatalities Management is implemented, there are no more backlogs in the management of Muslim Covid-19 victims at Shah Alam Hospital, Sg Buloh Hospital and Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang, he added.
In another matter, Amirudin said as of yesterday, Selangor has achieved a 30% vaccination rate and is expected to reach 50% by the end of this month.
“Despite this, we will not be resting on our laurels as more initiatives are being drawn up, including vaccinating foreigners – documented or otherwise.”
He also said walk-in recipients under the Vaksin Selangor initiative will be notified of their second dose appointment via the SeLangkah app to avoid crowds at vaccination centres. – Bernama, August 3, 2021
