Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says they'll aim to lighten the workload on Bruno Fernandes this season.

Solskjaer has welcomed back forward Anthony Martial from injury and No. 10 Jesse Lingard from an eye-catching short-term loan at West Ham, while winger Jadon Sancho arrived from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £73million.

"Bruno last year... maybe I overplayed him but it was because he was so important for us," Solskjaer told ESPN of Fernandes' workload.

"Adding these extra players - Jesse coming back, Jadon coming in, Anthony being fit again - gives us a lot more to work with."

Solskjaer may also turn to Donny van de Beek for minutes in creative areas, as the Dutchman has impressed his teammates with his gym work while on his holiday and in pre-season.

"He's (Van de Beek's) put on a bit of muscle, yeah," Solskjaer added. "He had last season to learn about English football, and he's used the summer well.

"You never know how players from abroad [are going to] come in - some players need a year."
