Liverpool plan to refuse to release players for international duty next week should they have to quarantine on their return.
The European Club Association, of which the Reds are a member, have agreed the collective position which would see a significant number of players unavailable for next month's latest round of World Cup qualifiers.
Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah and Brazilian trio Roberto Firmino,Alisson Becker and Fabinho are the four Liverpool players who are set to be affected, says the Liverpool Echo.
FIFA earlier this year scrapped a temporary exemption rule allowing clubs to prevent players being released for international duty should travel restrictions be imposed or there be a mandatory period of quarantine or self-isolation of at least five days on their return.
But now the stance of the ECA suggests a major club-versus-country argument could once again be looming.
