Liverpool have agreed terms with Newcastle United for Bobby Clark.

The Evening Chronicle says sources at the Liverpool end have indicated the Reds have agreed a fee with Newcastle for the 16-year-old and hope to confirm the deal in due course.

Newcastle sources claimed last month that they wanted Clark to have a future on Tyneside and follow in the footsteps of his famous father Lee, who became a terrace idol in the 1990s, but it looks like the Reds have won their battle to sign the Academy product.

Players of Clark's age at Newcastle usually see out a scholarship until the age of 17 before penning a professional contract, with Joe White and Elliot Anderson going down that pathway in the last year or so.

However, Liverpool appear to have stolen a march on the Magpies and are eager to get the deal rubber-stamped soon.
