[UPDATED] Record-high 24,599 Covid-19 cases, 393 deaths today

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today logged 24,599 Covid-19 cases, a fresh high that takes the country’s total caseload since the pandemic erupted to 1,640,843.

Selangor registered 6,936 cases, followed by Sabah (3,487), Johor (2,785), Penang (2,078), Sarawak (2,024), Kedah (1,538), Kelantan (1,312) and Perak (1,170).

Kuala Lumpur saw 881 infections, Pahang (690), Terengganu (567), Negri Sembilan (526), Melaka (515), Perlis (67), Putrajaya (20) and Labuan (3).

The Health Ministry reported 393 deaths, also a record high, pushing up the toll to 15,211. Of the new fatalities, 100 were brought in dead.

There are 990 patients in intensive care, of whom 487 are intubated.

Another 22,657 recoveries make for a total of 1,359,791.

Of the fresh cases, 345 are in Category 5, Category 4 (118), Category 3 (197), Category 2 (12,550) and Category 1 (11,389). – The Vibes, August 26, 2021
