SHAH ALAM, Aug 15 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari is scheduled to launch a mental healthcare initiative dubbed the Selangor Mental Health Programme (Sehat) on August 30.

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the objective of the programme is to help the people in the state who are experiencing mental stress due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The state government has allocated RM500,000 to organise the programme which will help raise awareness on the importance of mental health during the outbreak.

“Sehat can be accessed via the SELangkah mobile application where the app will provide a dedicated line for users to talk to the counsellors online,” she said during the virtual soft launch of Sehat Selangor on the Kita Selangor Facebook page, last night.

Dr Siti Mariah said SELangkah users would also be able to access early intervention methods in overcoming mental illness through psychology videos available on the app.

The programme is carried out in collaboration with the Islamic International University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Mental Illness Awareness and Support Association (Miasa).
