Liverpool aren't giving up on extending the contract of sporting director Michael Edwards.
It emerged this morning that Edwards has informed the board he wants to leave when his deal expires in June.
But the Liverpool Echo says Liverpool are keen for him to remain in the position.
Fenway Sports Group have for some time been in negotiations with Edwards over a potential new deal.
But it is believed he is considering a fresh challenge having spent almost 10 years at the club.
No formal decision has been reached by Edwards, with Liverpool still hopeful they can tempt him into staying having proven a huge success since joining in late 2011 as head of performance and analysis.
